Sonic Navigators

Sonic Navigators begins with a selection of impossible tools, both found and handmade, that vibrate between futile and utopian. These absurd objects are translated into sonic waveform. Laid out on a table, the objects ask, what does sound look like? What are different potentials for existence, in one's objecthood, sonic form, and an image form? Sonic Navigators is an experiment in a sonic glance between the inanimate and the animate. Accompanying zines can be found among Sled Island venues across the city.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Megan Feniak is a Canadian artist based in Calgary. Her work bridges physics and spirituality as twin seekers of the mystery close at hand. Drawing from the radical nature of handmade culture and design philosophies of Shaker carpentry, Megan’s sculptures manifest as modest guides for metaphysical encounters and tools in experimental thinking.

Displaying in the National Music Centre lobby June 20-24, 10:00am-5:00pm and during Sled Island shows.

Kerry Maguire is an artist and musician from Calgary, Alberta. In her artistic practice, she pursues ideas found in speculative realism and works primarily in installation, incorporating print and sculpture. She also plays in several Calgary bands and in a solo project.
