Cris Derksen Quartet

Toronto, ON

“Genre” is just a suggestion when you have electronic cello, pop culture beats, and fearless improvisation in the mix. Backed by hoop‑dancer Virgina Sparvier-Wells, vocalist Bobby Benson and percussionist John Obercian, Cris Derksen draws on Cree and Mennonite roots to create chamber music that is political, thunderous, and impossible to sit still for.
