Influenced by Midwestern emo/math-rock acts like Origami Angel and Chon, local trio Oranje plays tightly coiled start-stop tunes that keep your ears on edge. The group — who met playing in U of C’s jazz orchestra — are gearing up to release their debut EP, and the demos they’ve released on Bandcamp so far show a great deal of musicianship and a distinctly engaging instrumental style.
