Maria Takeuchi makes an encore appearance at Sled Island under a new name, but with the same essential skill set that caught our eye to begin with. Her electronic sound collage brings to mind a watercolour painting evaporating under a digital heat wave; an uneasy interruption of organic life. Her 2018 release Rain in the Battlefield shows off her talent for intermingling natural samples with erratic digital manipulation, creating a queasy mix of realism and dark fantasy.
