Last Shop Standing

Dir. Pip Piper, 50 mins, UK, 2012

The likes of Paul Weller, Johnny Marr and Billy Bragg (to name just a few) take you into some of the UK’s most treasured record shops. This documentary charts the rise and influence of the independent record shop in the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s and discusses the future of the industry with store owners and musicians. With three shops closing a week in the UK, this is an interesting look at a situation quite different from Calgary’s thriving indie record shop scene.

Last Shop Standing is screening on Wednesday, June 18th at 7pm at the Glenbow Museum Conocophillips Theatre.
