Sled Island's volunteer program is sponsored by First Calgary Financial.
Sled Island happens each year thanks to our hundreds of volunteers! Want to get involved? Read on for details!
HOW TO REGISTER
All new and returning volunteers must complete a Sled Island 2017 registration form.
If you are a returning volunteer, please use the same email address as your previous volunteer year to have your existing profile merged with your 2017 profile.
Please allow 48 hours for us to process your registration. Once your registration has been approved, you will receive a welcome letter outlining your next steps.
Walk-in registrations will be accepted after May 19, 2017 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12pm - 6pm at the Sled Island office (2206a 4th St. SW).
Please note that volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
COMMITMENT AND PERKS
To earn a Sled Island Discovery Pass or All-Ages Pass, we require a commitment of 26 volunteer hours pre-festival* or 16 volunteer hours during the festival. All volunteers also receive a Sled Island volunteer t-shirt.
*Pre-festival hours must be completed on or prior to June 20, 2017. Volunteers must complete all 26 hours to be eligible for a Discovery Pass or All-Ages Pass. Pre-festival hours do not carry over to festival hours, so if a volunteer is unable to complete all 26 pre-festival hours and still wants to earn a pass, they must join a new crew to complete their remaining required hours during the festival.
Volunteer crews include: airport, artist lounge, art venue, beer garden/bartending, billet, comedy venue, door, film venue, hospitality, Green Island, line management, merch, pass pick-up, pre-fest, production, photography, relief, security, stage management, transportation and venue management.
To sign up to volunteer for a 2017 Sled Island volunteer crew, please complete a volunteer registration on Shiftboard. If you are a returning volunteer, please re-register on Shiftboard to re-join your crew or pick a new crew. Information and instructions about selecting or re-joining a crew will be available after your volunteer application has been approved.
ORIENTATION AND TRAINING
New volunteer orientation takes place June 1, 2017 at Festival Hall (1215 10th Ave. SE). Orientation is optional for returning volunteers.
Mandatory pre-event meetings take place on June 17 and 18, 2017 at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel (133 9th Ave. SW). Location details and times are TBA. Artist lounge, billet, photography, pre-fest, transportation and venue managers have separate training and meeting dates, which will be announced by each crew’s coordinator closer to the festival.
