It's Millar time again, and TrépanierBaer is pleased to announce the launch of Chris Millar's Simon & Farfenougen & Hunter, the long awaited follow-up to his successful 2008 solo exhibition at the gallery. Not to be outdone by his previous painterly endeavours, Millar's recent project is multidisciplinary and consists of paintings, a sculpture, an artist book/print portfolio (produced with artist book publisher flask) and a vinyl picture disc all made by Calgary's enfant terrible par excellence.

 

Each component pertains to the story of Dave "The Iron Horse" Hunter, an obscure Nunavut scuzz-metal front-man, his girlfriend Becca Arnst, and a strange abduction scandal that rocked the folk rock world. A listening booth will be set up for audiences to hear the Simon & Farfenougen & Hunter album. This rare and never-before heard album features musical duo Simon and Farfenougen's only performance with Dave "The Iron Horse" Hunter and is only being released to the public now. The album along with three giclée prints are contained within a hardcover folio.

 

In keeping with his passion for mashing up pop culture, Chris Millar's Simon & Farfenougen & Hunter brings together an overwhelming array of visual, audio and textual information making this multiple/album/book yet another of Millar's elaborately obsessive and excessive projects.
