Seth Bogart returns to Sled Island on the heels of a romping lo-fi pop record. Having wowed audiences in 2011 as Hunx and his Punx, the charismatic showman now stands on his own with a collection that warps pain with pleasure and sincerity with absurdity. Bogart has become something of a queer hero for his subversion of tropes in punk, ‘60s girl groups and pop art. Past guest curator Kathleen Hanna is a noted fan and her bratty turn on freaky single “Eating Makeup” somehow fits perfectly alongside tender laments about Bogart’s own fragility. With so many notches on his belt and a new creative stride, we’re expecting big things from him at the festival.
